Wally Parks, who leveraged his job as editor of Hot Rod magazine to create the National Hot Rod Association more than a half-century ago, died of complications from pneumonia at a hospital in Burbank, Calif., on Friday. He was 94.

Wally Parks, founder of the National Hot Rod Association, died this past Friday in Burbank, Calif. He was 94. Parks, who began racing as a teenage hot rodder, founded NHRA in 1951 and worked to get drag racing off the streets and into organized venues.

I found it curious when the NASCAR penalties were announced for Carl Edwards and crew chief Bob Osborne due to a technical infraction after last Sunday’s Dover race.
