Joe Gibbs Racing Toyotas continued to show the way in NASCAR Sprint Cup tests Thursday, posting four of the seven fastest laps in the day’s first test session at California Speedway. Denny Hamlin turned the two fastest laps, topping out at 182.523 mph on the 2-mile Fontana track.

The schedule will tell you that NASCAR’s big leagues throw out the first pitch Feb. 17, the date of the 50th running of the Daytona 500. Truth be told, the calendar needs to be dialed back several weeks to find out where it all begins.
